Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Practice the Pause is a cybersecurity awareness training platform built and operated by Cooper Interactive. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We've written it to be readable.

1. What We Collect

When you or your organization uses Practice the Pause, we may collect:

  • Your name and email address (when you create an account or request access)
  • Your organization name and role, if provided
  • Training progress and completion data: modules completed, quiz scores, time spent
  • Certificate issuance records
  • Basic usage data: pages visited, features used, interactions with training scenarios
  • Technical data like IP address, browser type, and device type, collected automatically

We do not collect payment information directly. Any payment processing is handled by a third-party provider subject to their own privacy policy.

2. How We Use It

We use the data we collect to:

  • Deliver and improve the training experience
  • Track and report your progress and certifications
  • Send account-related emails: access confirmations, certificate delivery, important notices
  • Communicate product updates and security content (you can opt out at any time)
  • Understand how the platform is being used so we can make it better
  • Maintain security and prevent abuse

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

3. Who We Share It With

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

We may share data with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the platform, including hosting, email delivery, and analytics. These providers are bound by data processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes.
  • Your organization's administrator, if your access was provisioned through a team or company account. Admins can see training progress and completion status for their team members.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, if we are required by law to do so.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account and training data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 90 days, unless we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

Training completion records may be retained longer if your organization requires them for its compliance program.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in and to understand how the platform is being used. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit some platform functionality, including staying logged in.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure hosting practices. No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to how we process your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@practicethepause.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Practice the Pause is designed for adults in professional and organizational settings. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, contact us immediately and we will delete it.
